This seems like the moment every Sixers fan has been waiting on for years. The Sixers are one of five teams who will be receiving a new Classic Edition Jerseys for the 2025-26 NBA season. This will be the first time the Sixers have been awarded a Classic Edition jersey since Nike has taken over as the jersey distributor for the NBA.
As speculated by the folks at Basketball Jersey Archive, the Sixers will likely be bringing back the aura of the early 2000s and Sixers’ great Allen Iverson. While it’s yet to be confirmed, it seems clear that now is the time for Philadelphia to don the famous black jersey with red and gold trim, and the 2000s Sixers’ logo that the team wore during their NBA Finals run in 2001. Iverson made this jersey famous and a very popular throwback jersey, made currently by Mitchell and Ness.
The Sixers previewed this style jersey during their presentation for Tyrese Maxey at the “Maxey Musuem”, honoring him for being a great teammate and waiting out his extension until last summer to allow them to have maximum cap space to sign Paul George in free agency. When that video hit the internet, it caused a stir in the city as fans were ready and waiting for a long time for that style to return.
Just know that when these jerseys are released, they will fly off the shelves, and having the court to match them will put a chef’s kiss on a long-anticipated return.
